DAMAGE AND DEFECTS

Known defects

We list openly what is known to us. The condition is confirmed again in writing before the contract is concluded.

• US import with a salvage title. On 29 March 2025 the car left the road on its own in the USA and struck a central barrier. The CARFAX report lists the crash as severe damage to the right front, the right rear and the underbody. The vehicle was disabled and towed away, the airbags did not deploy. On 28 June 2025 the insurer declared a total loss, after which a salvage title was issued in Alabama. The manufacturer's warranty is void.
• CARFAX reports no structural damage for any of the three previous owners, yet still recommends an inspection by a collision repair specialist. We agree: after an impact against a crash barrier with underbody damage expressly recorded, that line means little.
• The 13 auction photographs from 2025 are in our hands and are shown to every interested buyer without being asked. In them the bodywork is undamaged all round: the front with both headlights, kidney grille, fog lights and bumper, the rear with lights, tailgate and bumper, both flanks, both rear quarter panels with their wheel arches, and the engine bay with undeformed strut towers. The airbags are unfired, the interior is undamaged, and in the instrument cluster shot the engine is running. Only three things stand out in these pictures: ABS, BRAKE and DSC are lit in the cluster, the iDrive screen shows "Pedestrian Warning. Malfunction. Consult service center", and a towing eye is screwed into the rear. None of the photographs shows the underbody or the boot floor. The damage that led to the write-off was therefore most probably underneath: suspension, subframes and sensors. We cannot prove this.
• The repair was carried out in Lithuania. According to the owner the suspension was rebuilt; he painted the right sill and the front bumper himself. Photographs of the finished suspension before the respray are available and are shown on request. There are no invoices and no expert report for the work, and we have not verified its extent ourselves. We therefore do not claim that the frame and bodywork were straightened properly. Nor have we read out the fault memory ourselves.
• Paint thickness measurement of 7 September 2026, carried out by the owner with a magnetic induction gauge; 51 individual photographs of the display are in our hands. Bonnet 100 to 110 µm, roof 110 to 130 µm, one flank 120 to 150 µm, which is factory paint. On one rear quarter panel above the wheel arch three neighbouring points read 280, 590 and 340 µm, with 150 to 190 µm again right beside them. 590 µm means filler or body filler at that spot; the area is local. On the tailgate 170 to 190 µm at the top against 130 µm at the bottom. According to the owner this paintwork was done in the USA and therefore before he owned the car; CARFAX reports a smaller rear damage on 31 October 2019 and on 10 January 2022. Plastic parts, that is both bumpers, cannot be measured by a magnetic induction gauge at all, so there are no readings for them.
• Four older reported damage events without any figures: 31 October 2019 at the rear, 13 April 2021 at the front, 10 January 2022 at the rear and 14 March 2023 with no area given.
• The mileage is plausible. At the 2025 auction 55,777 miles were recorded, which is 89,764 km; today the odometer reads 107,082 km. The CARFAX report contains no indication of tampering.
• We expressly recommend having the car inspected on a lift and the fault memory read out before purchase, by an expert of your choice if you wish.
