Engine mapping
Reading out and storing the original software, then adjusting injection, ignition and boost pressure. Depending on the engine, 15 to 30 per cent more power and 20 to 35 per cent more torque.
CHIP TUNING · WAIDHOFEN
Before changing the software, we check the vehicle, engine version and existing modifications. We discuss suitable adjustments and the evidence required for road use.
SERVICES
We read out what is fitted and what condition it is in first. With a tired turbocharger or a neglected service history we advise against it, rather than selling you a map that destroys the weak point faster.
Reading out and storing the original software, then adjusting injection, ignition and boost pressure. Depending on the engine, 15 to 30 per cent more power and 20 to 35 per cent more torque.
Torque in the low and mid range, set up for economical driving rather than peak figures. Usually the sensible choice for high-mileage drivers.
Power and torque across the whole rev range, sharper throttle response, adjusted boost. For vehicles built for it.
Shift times and shift character, adjusted torque limits, launch control. Makes most sense together with the engine work.
All control units read out, fault memory and live engine data. It starts every optimisation and can be booked on its own.
Back to the stored factory software, at any time and at no charge. Often the right step before a service, a sale or a warranty claim.
BRANDS
The list is not exhaustive. What decides is not the badge but the control unit and the condition of the engine. Ask about your car and we will tell you whether the work is worth it.
BMW CODING & PROGRAMMING
Alongside chip tuning we work on the software of BMW control units: diagnostics, programming, retrofits and coding. Training in BMW coding and programming is completed, and the software for it is in the workshop.
E, F and G series, from model year 2005.
A full scan of all control units, reading of the fault memory and narrowing down the cause before a part is ordered. Also for communication problems between control units.
Updating control units to the matching software level and programming after a control-unit replacement. The initial state is backed up first.
Integrating equipment that was fitted afterwards and that the car technically supports: extending the vehicle order, teaching in the new control unit, checking the function.
Enabling and adjusting existing functions where the series and equipment technically provide for them. No changes to safety- or emissions-relevant systems.
Price on request. Send us the VIN, model and the function you want and you get a fixed quote.
Ask about your BMWNot every function is available in every series. Manufacturer protection and the software level can limit the scope; we tell you before the work, not after.
APPROVAL AND DOCUMENTS
Please provide the registration document, engine version and existing modifications. Before accepting the work, we clarify available approvals and the inspection required.
Under § 19 (2) StVZO, modifications can invalidate the operating licence, for example if emissions or noise deteriorate or a safety risk is expected.
An ABE, parts type approval or applicable technical report must cover the exact vehicle and software variant. The inspection body determines the required procedure and changes to the registration documents.
Inform your insurer before the modification and clarify the effect on your policy and premium. Insurance cover cannot be promised in general.
The effect on manufacturer or additional warranties depends on their terms and the damage involved. Tuning does not automatically provide a new warranty.
Inspection and registration charges are separate from the software price. Vehicle-specific evidence is checked beforehand; no blanket TÜV approval is promised.
HOW IT WORKS
Model, engine, year and mileage. And whether anything has already been fitted or changed.
Control units read out, fault memory and live data checked. Only then do we say whether, and which stage, makes sense.
Original software stored, the map written, then a test drive under load with the values monitored.
Paperwork for the testing organisation, an appointment for the individual approval, then the entry in the documents and the notice to your insurer.
PRICES
All prices include 19% VAT. The final price depends on the engine, which is why everything says "from". After the read-out you get a firm figure.
| Vehicle | Standard | Eco | Sport | DSG |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Diesel | from 449 € | from 389 € | from 659 € | from 385 € |
| Benzin | from 499 € | from 389 € | from 719 € | from 385 € |
| SUV / Transporter | from 549 € | from 439 € | from 769 € | from 439 € |
| High Performance | from 659 € | not offered | from 879 € | from 439 € |
Not included: the individual approval at the testing organisation and the entry at the registration office. Those costs arise there, not with us. Reverting to the factory software is free.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Most questions are not about power but about the consequences. Those are exactly what to settle beforehand.
Yes. A change to the engine control unit is a modification to the vehicle. For software work there is usually no type approval certificate, so an individual approval under § 21 StVZO is required, followed by the entry at the registration office.
Under § 19 (2) StVZO, modifications can invalidate the operating licence, for example if emissions or noise deteriorate or a safety risk is expected.
Those costs do not arise with us but with the testing organisation for the inspection and the registration office for the entry. We tell you the usual order of magnitude for your vehicle beforehand and prepare the paperwork.
Where the engine control unit has been modified, the manufacturer can refuse warranty and goodwill claims, certainly for anything to do with the engine and drivetrain. On a young car that is a serious argument against tuning, and we say so.
Yes, at any time and at no extra charge. We read out the factory software before any work and keep it. Before a service, a sale or a warranty claim, reverting is often the right step.
No, and that is not a matter for negotiation. Removing emissions control systems is unlawful, costs the operating licence and is detectable at the periodic inspection. Anyone offering it is selling you a car you may no longer legally drive.

APPOINTMENT
Tell us the model, the engine and the mileage. We will tell you what is realistic on that engine and roughly what the registration costs, before you drive over.
