Drifting in an underground car park in Liberec: Destacar at the last event under Ještěd

On 19 September 2026 Destacar took part in Podještědské DRIFTobraní in Liberec, Czech Republic. It is a round of the SIXTOL Drift Corp. League, held in an unusual place: the underground garages of the Ještěd ski resort. The paddock sits on the upper deck, and the track runs below on the underground level, between concrete walls and pillars. Behind the wheel of car number 888 was Denis Rem, owner of Destacar.

A track with concrete from the entry onwards
The morning started with a track walk. Denis walked the track twice and filmed where to aim. The track is short and tight: the entry, an arc around the inner clip, a transition, two more after it and a turn around the "needle". This time there is concrete everywhere, starting at the entry, and the organisers put up protection at the most dangerous spot. The clipping zones are marked with room to spare from the walls, and Denis praised the markings: this time they were done neatly.
The big question of the day was which gear to use. In second the car is calm and predictable, the choice for competition. In third it accelerates faster and smokes more, and on this section smoke has always made for really striking photos. Denis set himself the goal of driving almost the whole track in third.
For Denis it was his third event of the season, and he could not miss Liberec: he counts the car park under Ještěd among his favourite places.
Practice and tyres

After five or six practice runs on 225/40 tyres it was clear how the car behaved. Grip was fine and the car held its slide steadily, but it lacked steering angle: when the car rotated a lot, it was hard to pull it back. Denis fitted a fresh set of the same 225s and kept the wider 265s in reserve.
This track eats tyres fast. After one practice session about two and a half millimetres of tread was left. For the battles Denis had his own tactic: take the first tight corner in third gear and go straight to full throttle. After that corner everything fills with smoke, and whoever follows can hardly see anything. Denis admits he still needs to refine this tactic.
Top 32: the tyres decided it
Denis went out in the Top 32 battles. He bet on the tyres he had practised on all day, while his opponent's tyres gripped better. Already on the first lap, accelerating out of the first clip, the opponent started to pull away and had a clear lead by the end of the track.
Why not the 265s? On them Denis had "stuck" several times before, and the nagging fear of that happening again in a battle won out. Now Denis says plainly that he should have fitted the 265s and gone for it. His verdict is honest: a race needs preparation, and he had come to enjoy the track.
Why we went to Liberec

The result in the standings is not the main thing Denis brought home from Liberec. He drove about 15 laps that day, almost the whole track in third gear, and did what he came for: a show, smoke along the concrete walls and the joy of one of the most interesting venues of the season. The experience of this track, as he puts it, goes in the bank.
Denis also singled out the atmosphere. The Czech drift community looks after the drivers so that everything is at hand: tea, music, monitors. That alone, he says, makes Czechia worth the trip for drifting.
According to the organisers, this was the last time the competition was held here: from the 2027 season it moves to a different venue.
What this means for our customers
Too little steering angle, the right tyre pressure and the right tyres for the track: anyone who goes drifting knows these questions. Denis sets up the suspension and geometry of his own cars himself, and we offer customers the same approach: drift setup in Waidhofen, with the values agreed with you for your car, tyres and track.
In the next video on his channel Denis shows the VIP conversion of a Mercedes-Benz V-Class.
