Audi S8 Plus: classic restraint combined with elegance

The S8 Plus saloon is based on the standard-wheelbase model. From the outside the S8 Plus is hard to tell apart from the regular S8; only a true car enthusiast will manage it. The S8 Plus stands out with its spoiler (body-coloured or in unpainted carbon fibre at extra cost), a radiator grille and air intakes finished in black, a diffuser framed in carbon fibre and tinted rear lights. Wheels with a diameter of 21 inches were also developed specifically for the S8 Plus, while the regular model uses wheels with a diameter of 18 inches.

A special feature of the S8 Plus exterior is the “Matrix LED” front lighting. The headlights can adapt to the ambient light and switch off the high beam when oncoming traffic approaches. The car's on-board electronics take care of controlling the headlights.

As always in their premium saloons, the designers use the finest materials, namely “Feinnappa” leather and a great deal of Alcantara. An important part of the interior is the multimedia screen, which slides out of the dashboard. It shows all the necessary information, including navigation, as well as the images from the cameras that make parking easier. The sound quality in the new saloon is top class, provided by a professional Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Technical specifications

The heart of the Audi S8 Plus is an upgraded 4-litre “TFSI” petrol engine producing 605 horsepower with the “Overboost” mode engaged. It is paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox. The S8 Plus is an all-wheel-drive car, but with an emphasis on sportiness, since the torque is not distributed evenly: 60% goes to the rear axle and 40% to the front. The car accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and needs only 12.2 seconds to reach the 200 km/h mark. The top speed is 250 km/h, but with the optional sports package you can take your car up to 305 km/h. For safety, all four wheels are fitted with carbon-ceramic brakes.
